Grade One Teacher

The Waldorf School of San Diego is seeking a full-time First Grade Teacher on our lower school campus. The first grade teacher under the Grades Chair will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential.

This position is an exempt, full-time with benefits. The ideal candidate will have a loving and playful nature and also possess a warm authority with the children. Flexibility as well as an ability to maintain rhythms and routines is essential qualities for this position. The First Grade Teacher position is well suited for someone with strong leadership capacities who has an interest in teaching and Waldorf Education.

 

 
Qualifications
  • Candidates MUST possess a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution and have a Waldorf Teaching credential.
 
Pay range:

$56,167 – $62,000 annual based on experience

Early Childhood (EC) Lead Teacher

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is seeking a positive and committed Lead Kindergarten Teacher to join our loving and dedicated EC team. We are looking for a warm-hearted and responsible teacher to nurture and care for the social, emotional, and physical needs of the children age 4-6. Our Early Childhood program has two nursery classes, three Kindergarten classes as well as a Parent-Child Program.  We encourage qualified candidates to please consider joining our Waldorf community here in beautiful San Diego where we honor each child’s journey through our gentle and nurturing approach.

 

 
Qualifications
  • Must possess a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • Waldorf Teacher Certificate completed or in progress
  • 1 to 3 years relevant experience
  • MUST have completed 12 ECE units, (or 6 completed with 6 in progress); we cannot consider applicants without ECE units.
  • First Aid Training, CPR Training (WSSD offers these trainings)
 
Pay range:

$54,006 – $63,306 annual based on experience

High School (HS) Humanities Teacher

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is seeking a positive and committed HS Humanities Teacher to join our loving and dedicated HS team. The HS Humanities teacher is responsible for preparing lesson plans and educating students. The duties include assigning homework, grading tests, and documenting progress. The HS Humanities teacher must be able to command their classroom and reach students with an engaging project-based curriculum. The HS Humanities teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential and accomplish the learning goals of humanities.

We are looking for someone who is responsible and loving to nurture and care for the social, emotional, and physical needs of the students. If you have an understanding of Waldorf education, good communication skills with parents and other teachers, experience working with students in a similar environment and competence in completing weekly billing paperwork, you may be the one to join our community. This is a part-time position for approximately 33.8 weeks a year.

 

 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and commitment to fulfill Waldorf Teacher training to begin by the third year of employment if not certified Waldorf Teacher.
  • Prior teaching experience highly preferred.
  • Specialized training in teaching secondary school-aged children is preferred.

Grades Assistant

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is seeking a positive and committed Grades Assistant
to join our loving and dedicated Grades team. This Grades Assistant is responsible for supporting
the Grades Teacher in the care and supervision of the children in the grades program. Following
the direction of the Grades Teacher, the Grades Assistant will help create a warm and caring
environment that supports the healthy development of the young child, fosters a positive sense of
wellbeing, and that complements the morning program. The Grades Assistant works
collaboratively with faculty and staff to uphold the values and policies of WSSD.
We are looking for someone who is responsible and loving to nurture and care for the social,
emotional, and physical needs of the children. If you have an understanding of Waldorf
education, good communication skills with other teachers, you may be the one to join our
community. This is a part-time position for approximately 33.8 weeks a year.

Qualifications:
  • Experience preferred working with young school children (Waldorf preferred)
  • Experience in gardening, handwork, music, games and movement preferred
  • First Aid Training, CPR Training (WSSD offers these trainings)

Extra Lesson/Education Support Teacher

The Waldorf School of San Diego (WSSD) is seeking a positive and committed Extra Lesson/Education Support Teacher to join our loving and dedicated team. This teacher will perform first-grade ready, grade 2 and grade 5 annual screenings, works one on one and in small groups to support needs of students and teachers; and identifies and meets the needs of all students through differentiated methods and screenings, and collaboration with teachers, families, and administration. They are an active member of the school Care Group, annually reviewing, assessing, and planning the current and future academic or other needs of the students.

We are looking for someone who is responsible and loving to nurture and care for the social, emotional, and physical needs of the children. If you have an understanding of Waldorf education, good communication skills with parents and other teachers, experience working with children in a similar environment.  This is a part-time position for approximately 33.8 weeks a year less than 30 hours per week.

Qualifications:
  • BA or BS required
  • Experience in a learning support role and teaching grade school-age students preferred
  • Experience with tutoring and/or classroom teaching
  • Trained in Extra Lesson or Waldorf-inspired remedial support training
  • Waldorf Teaching Certificate and/or Waldorf experience preferred

Lead Kindergarten Teacher

Parent-Child Class Teacher

 

Parent-Child classes provide an opportunity for parents to learn about Waldorf pedagogy and to apply these principles in their homes.  Classes also provide opportunities for adult socialization and support.  Young students will enjoy joyful circle-time experiences that support healthy development as well as opportunities for imaginative play and socialization.  The  Parent-Child class teacher will be responsible for coordinating the play activities in class for children ages 1-3 yrs old. Activities include imaginative play, circle time, and storytime. The teacher also provides craft activities and parenting study topics for the parents. Candidate must have completed Waldorf Early Childhood training or possess extended experience teaching Parent-Child or Early Childhood classes in an accredited Waldorf School or homecare setting.  This teacher will work closely with, and be supported by colleagues, to provide a specific curriculum geared towards encouraging healthy movements for children and healthy parenting tools for adults.
 
$25.96 – $30.44 per hour (BOE)
 
Minimum hours 4 per week.  Classes are in demand and opportunities for growth are expected.
